This past Friday, ATK Foods donated over 60 pounds of sausage links to Northwestern University’s 2^nd annual “Lift for Life” event. Athletes from the Northwestern football team competed in various speed, agility and strength events in order to benefit the Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation. The Foundation which was created in 1994 is in honor of former head football coach Ara Parseghian who has a rare genetic, neurodegenerative disorder called Niemann-Pick Disease Type-C.  The Northwestern chapter of Uplifting Athletes, whose purpose is to generate awareness and funds to help cure rare diseases considered this event near and dear to the Northwestern community and has been tremendously dedicated to helping this cause.

The event was free (although donations were encouraged) to spectators who wanted to see their favorite Wildcat team members work hard for a cause as well as a casual meet and greet after the event. Athletes, coaches and spectators alike chowed down on some of ATK’s delicious links while the donations just kept rolling in, totaling at $8,168.
